Military man in Austin H. Winn’s letters 1
Mentioned in letters as: T. N. Daniels
Enlisted man on Austin’s new July 1945 crew list. Matches “Tommy Daniels” on the City of Annapolis crew photograph in manuscript chapter 18.
FACT from the letters: On 4 July 1945 Austin listed “T.N. Daniels” among the enlisted men on his new crew.
FACT from the photograph: The ink under the fourth kneeling man appears to read “Tommy Daniels.”
HYPOTHESIS: That “Tommy Daniels” is the letters’ T. N. Daniels. Tommy for T is a guess.
FACT from the roster: The 19th Bomb Group D index does not list Daniels. No obituary or award card found here names a T. N. or Tommy Daniels with the 19th Bomb Group, a B-29, or this crew.
